Why This Matters

Most Irish businesses leave thousands in
grant funding unclaimed.

Grant information is scattered across multiple agencies with different eligibility rules, different covered costs, and different timelines. Most business owners simply don’t have time to research all the options — so the funding goes unclaimed.

When you request a quote from DSD, we review your eligibility for every relevant scheme as part of our standard process. We’ve helped clients recover up to 50% of project costs — and we support your application at no additional charge.

⚠ Golden Rules — Read Before Applying

DSD will advise on timing and sequencing to protect your eligibility at every stage.

HOW TO APPLY
1
Complete the free Digital for Business assessment (mandatory prerequisite)
Contact your county's Local Enterprise Office to arrange this free consultation. A LEO-appointed consultant reviews your business digitally and produces a personalised roadmap. This must be completed within the past 2 years before you can apply. Allow 2-4 weeks. The assessment is entirely free of charge.
2
Identify your qualifying digital project
Define which new software tools you want to invest in. For a DSD project this typically covers the DSD Cloud CMS software licence, IT configuration, and staff training. Gather quotes from DSD — we provide itemised quotations formatted specifically for LEO applications.
3
Apply through your Local Enterprise Office
Submit your application with: your Digital for Business report, financial statements (last 2 years), tax clearance certificate, and supplier quotations. Apply online via your county LEO or through the National Enterprise Hub portal.
4
Receive written approval — then proceed
Wait for written grant approval before incurring ANY costs. Once approved, proceed with your DSD CMS installation and training.
5
Submit proof of expenditure and receive reimbursement
Submit verified invoices and receipts to your LEO. Grant is paid as a reimbursement directly to your business, typically within 4-6 weeks of a valid claim.
DSD + LEO Grow Digital Voucher
The Grow Digital Voucher is ideal for the DSD Cloud CMS software licence and associated training or configuration costs in a digital signage project. Hardware (screens, media players, installation) is better suited to the Business Expansion Grant below. DSD will help you structure your application to maximise coverage across both schemes simultaneously.

HOW TO APPLY
1

2
Prepare your business plan and financial projections
A full business plan is required demonstrating growth intent, job creation potential, and financial sustainability. DSD provides a detailed project specification letter and itemised quotation to support your application — these are formatted specifically to meet LEO documentation requirements.
3
Obtain 3 comparative quotes for items over €5,000
For significant capital purchases — screens, LED panels, full installations — you will typically need 3 comparative quotes. DSD provides a fully itemised quotation with individual line items for displays, media players, cabling, installation labour, and CMS setup, formatted for grant applications.
4
Submit full application and await written approval
Submit your business plan, financial statements (2 years), tax clearance, trading evidence, and supplier quotations to your LEO. Do not proceed with any purchase until you receive written approval.
5
Complete installation and submit reimbursement claim
After written grant approval, proceed with your DSD installation. Submit verified invoices and receipts to your LEO. Grant is paid directly to your business on verification of expenditure.
DSD + LEO Business Expansion Grant
The BEG is the primary grant for full digital signage system investment — covering commercial displays, LED panels, media players, cabling, and professional installation. DSD provides grant-ready itemised quotations with individual line items for every cost component, a project specification letter on headed paper, and guidance on structuring your application. Ask us for a grant-formatted quote when requesting your DSD proposal.

HOW TO APPLY
1
Identify an approved Knowledge Provider
Select an Irish higher education institution or public research body from Enterprise Ireland's approved list. Options include IT Dundalk (DKIT), TU Dublin, UCD, DIT, and all Technological Universities. The knowledge provider will co-design and deliver the research project.
2
Define your innovation challenge clearly
Frame your project around a specific business problem or technical question. Examples: 'What LED configuration and pixel pitch best suits our multi-site retail environment?' or 'How can AI-driven content scheduling optimise digital menu board sales uplift in our QSR locations?'
3
Register and apply via the Enterprise Ireland portal
First-time applicants must register their business on the EI online system before applying. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year. Standard vouchers (€10,000 fully funded) and co-funded vouchers (up to €20,000, business contributes 50%) are both available.
4
Complete the research collaboration
The knowledge provider delivers the agreed research project. You receive findings, recommendations, and evidence-based guidance to inform your digital signage investment decisions.
Innovation Voucher + Digital Signage
The EI Innovation Voucher is particularly useful for businesses wanting to research the optimal digital signage strategy before committing to a full investment — for example, a hotel group exploring how AI-driven content impacts guest dwell time, a retail chain modelling LED ROI across multiple store formats, or a QSR group researching calorie-compliance technology options. Use an Innovation Voucher to de-risk your decision, then proceed with DSD.

Side-by-Side Comparison

Which grant is right for your project?

For most DSD installations, the optimal strategy is to combine the LEO Grow Digital Voucher (covering DSD Cloud CMS software) with the LEO Business Expansion Grant (covering hardware and installation). Together these can recover up to 50% of your total project cost. Always confirm eligibility with your LEO before proceeding.

Additional Financial Supports

Beyond grants: tax reliefs and other incentives.

In addition to direct grant funding, Irish businesses investing in digital technology may benefit from the following tax reliefs and financial supports. Speak to your accountant about which apply to your specific situation — they can significantly reduce the net cost of your digital signage investment.

25%
R&D Tax Credit
If your business is developing new digital processes, tools, or systems involving genuine technical uncertainty, you may qualify for a 25% tax credit on qualifying R&D expenditure. More businesses qualify than realise — the definition of R&D is broader than most people think. Speak to your accountant about whether your digital signage project qualifies.
100%
Capital Allowances
Investment in qualifying technology assets — including commercial display screens, LED panels, media players, and control systems — may qualify for capital allowances, allowing the cost to be written off against taxable profits. Energy-efficient LED equipment may qualify for Accelerated Capital Allowances (ACA). Discuss the applicable rate and timing with your accountant.
€25k
Microfinance Ireland
Small business loans of €2,000–€25,000 at competitive rates for businesses that may not qualify for traditional bank financing. Ideal for bridging the gap while awaiting grant reimbursement, or to fund the 50% co-contribution required by LEO grant schemes. Government-backed and available nationwide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Grant funding questions, answered.

Accurate as of March 2026. Grant schemes, eligibility criteria, and amounts can change — always verify directly with your LEO or Enterprise Ireland before making financial commitments.

As of March 2026 the active schemes most relevant to digital signage are: the LEO Grow Digital Voucher (up to €5,000, 50% of eligible software costs, available through all 31 county LEOs), the LEO Business Expansion Grant (up to €80,000, 50% of eligible capital costs including hardware), and the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Voucher (€10,000 fully funded for research). The Fáilte Ireland Digital That Delivers programme is closed to new applicants.

The Grow Digital Voucher covers new software subscriptions, digital tools, and IT configuration — not hardware. For a DSD project this means it can cover the DSD Cloud CMS software licence, training, and configuration costs. Hardware (screens, media players, installation) is more suited to the LEO Business Expansion Grant. Many DSD clients successfully combine both to maximise their total grant recovery.

Always apply for and receive written grant approval BEFORE committing to any purchase or incurring any costs. This is a hard rule across all Irish government grant schemes — costs incurred before the approval date are not eligible for reimbursement. Contact DSD and your LEO before signing any order. We will help you time everything correctly.

Digital for Business is a free mandatory prerequisite for the LEO Grow Digital Voucher. A LEO-appointed consultant (typically 1-3 sessions) reviews your business digitally and produces a personalised roadmap. It is entirely free of charge. You must have completed this assessment within the past 2 years before applying for the Grow Digital Voucher. Contact your LEO to arrange it — allow 2-4 weeks. It does not delay the Business Expansion Grant.

The Grow Digital Voucher typically takes 4-6 weeks from a complete application to a decision. The Business Expansion Grant, requiring a full business plan, typically takes 6-10 weeks. Factor in the Digital for Business assessment (2-4 weeks) before a Grow Digital application, and allow a 3-quote process for items over €5,000. Start the process early and DSD will coordinate the project timeline around your grant approval date.

Yes, in many cases. The most common combination is the LEO Grow Digital Voucher (for DSD Cloud CMS software and training) and the LEO Business Expansion Grant (for hardware and installation). These are administered by the same LEO and the costs they cover do not overlap, making them fully combinable. De minimis state aid rules cap total public funding at €300,000 over a rolling 3-year period across all schemes combined.

Sole traders and partnerships qualify for the LEO Grow Digital Voucher and the Business Expansion Grant, provided they meet the other eligibility criteria. GAA clubs and sporting bodies that carry on taxable activities are also eligible for the Grow Digital Voucher specifically — this is explicitly referenced in the LEO application criteria. Contact your local LEO for guidance on the most appropriate scheme for your organisational structure.

DSD provides a detailed itemised quotation formatted for LEO grant applications, with separate line items for display hardware, media players, installation labour, cabling, CMS licence, and content creation. We also provide a project specification letter on headed paper describing the full scope of work. Both documents are accepted by LEOs as supporting evidence and satisfy the 3-quote requirement for individual cost components.

Commercial-grade display screens, LED panels, and media players are generally qualifying plant and machinery for Irish capital allowances purposes, allowing the cost to be written off against taxable profits. Energy-efficient LED equipment may also qualify for Accelerated Capital Allowances (ACA). Speak to your accountant or tax advisor about the correct rate, timing, and qualification criteria for your specific equipment and business structure.

Disclaimer: Grant information on this page is provided in good faith and was accurate as of March 2026. DSD accepts no liability for changes to grant programmes, eligibility criteria, or amounts after this date. Always verify current terms with your Local Enterprise Office, Enterprise Ireland, or the relevant government agency before applying.
