Mario Rosenstock

Screen, stage and audio for a live comedy show where the video is part of the act rather than a backdrop.

At a glance

What the job involved, and what it had to work around.

The project

What the job was

A Rosenstock show is built around video. The sketches, the impressions, the pre-recorded material — the screen is a cast member, and it has to be cued to the second because the timing of the joke depends on it.

That is a different job to hanging a backdrop. DSD supplied the screen, the staging and the audio, with playback tight enough that the performer can work against the video live rather than around it.

Comedy is unforgiving about latency. If the picture is late, the room knows.
