Everything at a fashion show is subordinate to the picture. The audience sees each look for six seconds; the photographs are seen for months. If the lighting flattens a fabric or the backdrop competes with a print, the show has failed at the only job it had.
DSD builds the runway, the LED backdrop behind it and the lighting along it — backdrop content chosen to sit behind the collection rather than argue with it, and lighting positioned to give texture rather than a flat wash.
The screen also carries designer and sponsor identification between segments, at the moment the audience is looking anyway.
