Theatre Production

LED panels used as scenery — a full set change between scenes with nothing flown, wheeled or carried.

The project

What the job was

Built scenery is expensive to make, expensive to store, and slow to change. For an amateur or community production it is often the single biggest line in the budget, and it buys one or two locations for the whole show.

LED gives a production as many locations as it has scenes. DSD supplies the panels — a full backdrop plus side towers — and the content, so a mountain sunset becomes a city street becomes an interior between one line and the next.

The panels come in and out of a venue in an afternoon, which for a hall with no fly tower and no wing space is the difference between an ambitious set and no set at all.
