Open-Field Music Festival

Stage, LED backdrop, PA and lighting dropped into a grass field with no power, no access road and no infrastructure of any kind.

At a glance

What the job involved, and what it had to work around.

The project

What the job was

A greenfield site gives you nothing. No power, no hard standing, no shelter, no cable routes, and ground that turns after a night of rain. Everything the event needs arrives on a truck and leaves the same way.

DSD builds the full production: a roofed stage on distributed load, an LED backdrop, a PA covering an open field where sound simply travels away, lighting rigged into the stage roof, and the cable management that keeps a wet field safe.

The screen matters more outdoors than in. Beyond about twenty metres a performer is a shape; the screen is how most of the field actually sees the show.
