Louth County Council

Digital display in the council’s civic building — everyday wayfinding and public information, and the screen that carries the room on a civic occasion.

At a glance

What the job involved, and what it had to work around.

The project

What the job was

A civic building has two jobs for a screen and they pull in opposite directions. Most days it is infrastructure — where to go, what is on, which office is which, in a listed-quality interior that will not tolerate visible cabling or a plastic bezel. On the day of a civic reception it has to become the focal point of the room.

DSD supplied and installed the display and the content system behind it. Day to day it runs wayfinding and public information; for a homecoming or a reception it switches to full-screen imagery and the hall reads as an event space rather than a foyer.

One screen, one content platform, two completely different behaviours — scheduled rather than swapped by hand.
